ODOT: Planning, Patience Needed for Holiday Weekend Travel

COLUMBUS, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – 5.6-percent more cars on the road in the Midwest region including Ohio this Memorial Day weekend.

It means traffic congestion, especially through urban areas.

ODOT Press Secretary Matt Bruning asks that you plan ahead, pack your patience, and give yourself extra time to reach your destination.

Slowdowns are especially likely on the freeways in Akron and Zanesville as well as I-71 and I-70 in downtown Columbus.

And don’t forget to tell your out-of-town visitors this weekend about the construction on Northbound I-77 at Route 30 in Canton.

Bruning says you can keep up with the latest on the OHGo app and on freeway message boards.
