Ohio Birth/Death Ratio Changes During Pandemic

COLUMBUS, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Ohio has recorded a first during this pandemic.

More people died than were born last year, the first time that’s happened since those records have been kept.

The Columbus Dispatch newspaper and Ohio History Connection started keeping track of those figures in 1909.

Over 143,000 Ohioans died, while there were 129,000 births last year.

Deaths are also ahead of births for 2021.
