OHSAA Sets New High School Football Region Assignments
The Ohio High School Athletic Association released new region assignments for high school football, and Region 5 in Division II just got very crowded with Stark County teams.
Massillon, Perry, Lake, Hoover, and Alliance will join defending state champion Hoban in the region, eliminating any Division II state championship rematch between the Tigers and Knights. The Aviators join the region after playing in Division III the last several years.
Other moves involving Stark County teams include Northwest, moving into Region 14, where they will be the only Stark team. East Canton will now be in Region 21 having moved up to Division VI.
All other county teams will remain where they were.
Also of note, the Green Bulldogs depart Region 7 for Region 6, and Dover will join Louisville and Marlington in Region 9 after dropping to Division III. Perennial power Steubenville also moves in to Region 9.
