One of Canton’s Originals Hit by a Vehicle

Reports surfaced early Monday morning that Taggarts Ice Cream on Fulton Road, NW was going to need some repair work done.  Why? Because a vehicle had rammed through the front window of the restaurant.  The owner of Taggarts, Mindy Mullaly, told WHBC that the vehicle ended up all the way inside the dining room.  It happened around two o’clock this morning.  The restaurant and ice cream shop has its front window completely boarded up and Mindy says the are closed until further notice.

Meanwhile, the Canton Post of the Highway Patrol handled the incident.  They say 23-year old Preston Cingle, who apparently is homeless, was driving a Honda Accord.  Troopers tried to pull him over for a traffic stop.  Cingle attempted a high speed backing maneuver from 14th Street, across Fulton Road and into the building of Taggarts.  Cingle then took off on foot but was apprehended a short time later.   The owner of the car reported it stolen out of her garage.

Cingle is in the Stark County jail and is charged with  Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle,  Failure to Comply/ Flee from a police officer, Vandalism, OVI, Driving Under Suspension, Hit Skip and No Tail Lights
