‘Open Road Tolling’ Comes to East End of Turnpike
BEREA, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Those slowdowns that Westbound Ohio Turnpike drivers have encountered after crossing the Pennsylvania state line should be a thing of the past during this upcoming busy Thanksgiving holiday travel period.
The ‘Eastgate’ toll plaza has been remodeled, following the turnpike’s new Open Road Tolling concept.
It officially opened at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
E-Z Pass customers should stay to the left and remain at highway speed, with a flat fee automatically deducted from their accounts.
Cash and credit card customers bear to the right and stop at a traditional toll booth.
That differs from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which no longer has toll booths.
Eastbound Ohio Turnpike traffic has no toll, and can continue at highway speed toward Pennsylvania.
