Pedestrian Killed on I-77 Early Sunday Morning

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 49-year old man from Springfield Township who was killed on I-77 near Green.  They say the William Martin walked into the southbound lanes of the highway near the Massillon Road exit and was hit by a semi.  He was transported to a local hospital by the Green Fire Department. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured.   No word on why the man was in the roadway.  It happened around 3:00am Sunday.
No charges have been filed at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
