Primary Ballot Certified for Stark Local Candidates, Two Disqualified

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Two candidates were disqualified from the March 19 ballot after the Stark County Board of Election went through the certification process for local candidates Tuesday.

Vanessa Joy of Massillon is no longer a Democratic candidate for the 50th House district seat.

That means the Republican Matthew Kishman of Minerva is all but elected in November, unless an independent candidate signs on.

The incumbent Republican Reggie Stoltzfus is running for Congress.

Also, Kimberly Bell of Canton was disqualified as a Democratic candidate for county clerk of courts.

She was being opposed by Rick Campbell.

Both Bell and Joy made errors in filing petitions.

Protests against those decisions must be filed by Friday.
