Prosecutor Says Jealousy is Motive as 2023 Canton Killer Gets 12 Years

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – We learned more about appeared to be the traffic death of a Canton man on Monday.

This, after the man accused of running him down was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

46-year-old Matthew Colopy pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and other charges in the death of 41-year-old Cateno Demetro.

Chief criminal prosecutor with the Stark County Prosecutor’s Office Dennis Barr says the men were involved with the same woman.

He says jealousy was the motive.

Barr says Colopy followed Demetro’s car to the victim’s 48th Street NW home off Cleveland Avenue last October.

He then then ran him down when he got out of the vehicle.

Colopy had been charged with murder.
