Reports: Babcock and Wilcox to Build Hydrogen Facility in Massillon

MASSILLON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – More good economic news for Massillon.

Several reports indicate Babcock and Wilcox will construct a $60 million hydrogen production plant at the Massillon Energy and Technology Park, the former Republic Steel site.

It’ll be a small commercial demonstration facility for the Akron-based energy technology company, employing just a dozen or so people.

But there’s the possibility of expansion down the road.

Still, the plant is set to make three to five tons of hydrogen each day.

They hope to break ground in the Fall, with production starting late next year or early in 2026.

Back in June, A.R.E. Accessories announced they were expanding their Massillon operations.
