Ribbon Cutting Wednesday for Massillon Levee Improvements

MASSILLON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – There’s a ribbon cutting Wednesday morning at 11 for the $22.5 million Massillon Levee improvement project.
The work on the east and west banks of the levee from Lake Avenue NW to Finefrock Road SW took more than two construction seasons.
The pump station that puts water back into the Tuscarawas River was also updated.
the Towpath Trail that travels along the Massillon Levee had to be closed for a while for completion for the levee improvement project.
Mayor Kathy Catazaro Perry says they notified the Army Corps of Engineers of the beginnings of erosion along the banks back in 2018.
The levee was built in 1951 to prevent flooding in downtown Massillon.
That Wednesday ribbon cutting is at Ernie’s Bicycle Shop on Lake Avenue.
