SARTA Picks Up Biggest Slice of Latest ODOT Workforce Mobility Funding ‘Pie’

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – SARTA comes up the big winner when it comes to ODOT funding for new buses and improved facilities.

Of the 17.6 million dollars divvied up as part of the Workforce Mobility Partnership Program statewide, the Canton-based transit agency won five grants totaling 4.44 million dollars.

Nearly three million dollars will go to purchasing 11 replacement CNG (compressed natural gas) buses.

There’s also money for two longer 45-foot electric buses for workers going up to the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals.

There are also improvements set for facilities like transfer centers.

The grants were focused on public workforce transportation needs.

Portage County picked up four grants.
