CLEVELAND, OH – RHP SHANE BIEBER has been named to the American League All-Star Team, announced today by MLB as a replacement for Texas LHP Mike Minor (Sunday starter).
 
Bieber, 24, has posted a record of 7-3 with a 3.54 ERA in 18 games/17 starts (104.1IP, 86H, 41ER, 23BB, 133SO, .219 avg).  The Laguna Hills, CA native has posted an ERA of 2.00 over his last 4 starts (27.0IP, 18H, 6ER, 3BB, 37SO) and currently ranks in the top 10 among American League pitchers in strikeouts per 9.0 IP (4th, 11.5), opponents’ on-base pct. (5th, .268), strikeouts (6th, 133), walks per 9.0 IP (7th, 2.0) and opponents’ batting average AVG (9th, .219).  At 24.035, he is the youngest Cleveland Indians starting pitcher to earn an All-Star nod since CC Sabathia in 2004.
 
Bieber is the fourth Indians All-Star, joining LHP BRAD HAND, SS FRANCISCO LINDOR and 1B CARLOS SANTANA in this Tuesday’s game in Progressive Field.
