(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – Field corn is ripe for the picking, and sweet corn won’t be far off.

That’s the story across Stark County, where farmers got a late start because of the very wet spring, but the corn that has survived is looking good.

Ohio State Extension Educator Heather Neikirk says the field corn is in tassel with some silk beginning to appear.

On the other hand, sweet corn was generally not ready to pick yet.

The harvesting of winter wheat is also a few weeks behind schedule.
