Stark Records Center Move Now Complete

CANTON TWP., Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – The Stark County Records Center has now completed the move to the back of the Southgate Shopping Center.

It’s in a Cleveland Avenue S building owned by the county.

It took months to make the move from 3rd Street NE downtown to Canton Township.

Nearly 40,000 boxes of paperwork had to be trucked over.

Some records can be saved in a computer file, but some must remain in paper form by law.

The building also houses the coroner’s office and is now fully occupied.

Commissioner Bill Smith says the previous location in the basement of the former Board of Elections building on 3rd Street NE was problematic for a number of reasons.

The Rotary Club of Canton South met there Thursday to check the place out.
