Strike Averted in Akron Public Schools

AKRON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – A teachers strike has been averted in the Akron Public Schools.

Both the Akron Education Association and the school district announced Sunday night that a tentative contract agreement had been reached.

No details were being provided.

No date has been set for ratification by the union.

The superintendent says all students can report for classes today.

Safety inside school buildings had been stressed as a key issue, with several recent violent incidents.
