(ONN) – With more high schoolers on the roads, AAA is reminding Ohioans that the 100 deadliest days have begun.

Over the past five years, nearly 3,500 people have been killed in crashes across the country involving teen drivers between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

AAA says speeding is the biggest contributor to these crashes followed by impaired driving.

Distracted driving was found to be a cause in 9 percent of the fatal crashes.

That’s something more than half of teens admit to doing.

AAA is putting the heat on parents to take precautions to help reverse these deadly trends to keep roads safer this summer for teenagers and everyone.
