Traffic Stop in Akron Ends in Teen Arrest for Guns and Drugs

A traffic stop leads to the arrest of several teens on weapons and drug charges.

Akron Police say members of the Anti-Violence Bureau stopped a vehicle at East Archwood Avenue and Lily Street around 6:00pm Thursday for traffic and equipment violations.  The 16-year old driver did not have a valid license and was cited.  The 17 year old passenger tried to run off but was taken into custody after a brief struggle where he reportedly struck a police officer.  They found a loaded handgun and 19 grams of fentanyl in his possession.

A 16-year old in the back seat also was detained after getting out of the car.  Officers found a loaded handgun with a 50 round magazine inside his backpack.  He was also arrested and charged.

The investigation continues.
