Turnpike Triple-Crash Survivor Thinks New Toll Barrier Was Factor
SWANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC and ONN) – The state patrol and NTSB investigations continue.
But one survivor of the three deadly crashes within 50 minutes of each other near the new Ohio Turnpike online toll plaza near Swanton believes confusion over the new facility and which lane to be in, led to the accidents.
Turnpike commission member and State Rep Haraz Ghanbari from the Toledo area would prefer we wait for the results of the investigations.
The driver of an SUV in which two passengers were killed says she slowed down from 70- to 50-miles-an-hour when she realized there was a toll barrier ahead.
The vehicle was rear-ended by a tractor trailer rig.
Four people were killed in the three accidents last month, all within a three-mile stretch of the toll road.
Those crashes occurred just west of Toledo.
