Village CEO: NFL’s Important Indirect Link to HOFV

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – When it comes to the financial issues that have further construction on hold at the Hall of Fame Village, many local residents ask “why doesn’t the NFL come to the rescue?”.

Village CEO Michael Crawford points out that the league is already heavily invested in Canton, with events like the annual Enshrinement and the Hall of Fame game.

Add to that, Crawford says with flag football now an Olympic sport, Canton is ahead of the curve there, having played host to the NFL Flag Football Championships this year.

He says those events aren’t “required” to be in Canton.

Crawford says league Commissioner Roger Goodell has told him he wants to see the Village succeed.

The Village continues to build its “capital stack” when it comes to financing the Gameday Bay Water Park and hotel.
