Walsh to Show Governor Positive Results of ‘Science of Reading’ Curriculum

NORTH CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Walsh University has been at the forefront of Governor Mike DeWine’s Science of Reading program.

This afternoon, leadership at the North Canton school will show him how it’s producing results.

Walsh quickly began adjusting its teacher-preparation curriculum last year after the state put $64 million into the program.

The Science of Reading uses phonics, vocabulary and more to teach kids how to read.

Immediately following that event, the governor joins Lt Governor Husted in Akron to announce details on a third innovation hub for the state.

The hubs are designed to increase research and development that leads to jobs.
