(WHBC) – It’s been a little chilly the last few days to be on a motorcycle, but the weather will eventually warm up, and with that, you’ll see more motorcycles on the roads.

Adult’s aren’t required to wear a helmet in Ohio if they have at least one year of experience, but AAA says it could save your life.

“During the past five years an average of 71 percent of motorcyclists killed in crashes on Ohio roads were not wearing a helmet, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol,” said AAA’s Kimberly Schwind.

She says 800 motorcyclists have been killed in traffic accidents in Ohio over the last five years.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and drivers are being encouraged to share the road with their friends on two wheels.
