The below statment comes from the Carroll County Sherriff’s Office referring to a police chase that went from minerva to Louisville. WHBC’s Billy Beebe caught part of the incident on camera.

TODAY, THURSDAY AUGUST 29, 2024 AT 8:51 am, CARROLL COUNTY 911 RECEIVED A CALL FROM A FEMALE REPORTING THAT SHE HAD BEEN ASSAULTED BY 36 YO THOMAS J. SNYDER OF MALVERN. DURING THE TIME CARROLL COUNTY DEPUTY WAS WITH FEMALE TAKING THE REPORT, MR. SNYDER PASSED BY HIM AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED HEADING WEST ON ALLIANCE RD. AT THAT TIME, CARROLL COUNTY DEPUTY ATTEMPTED TO CATCH UP WITH MR. SNYDER
BUT WAS UNSUCSESSFUL. AT 11:05 am, WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF MINERVA PD, MR. SNYDER WAS LOCATED IN THE VILLAGE OF MINERVA AND A TRAFFIC STOP WAS MADE ON E LINE ST. CANTON PD K-9 OFFICER AND CANTON REGIONAL SWAT TEAM WERE REQUESTED TO ASSIST CARROLL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND MINERVA PD ON TRAFFIC STOP. AFTER 54 MINUTES OF ATTEMPTED NEGOTIATION TO COMPLY, MR. SNYDER ONCE AGAIN FLED FROM POLICE
HEADING WEST ON STATE ROUTE 30 AND BEGINNING A DUAL COUNTY PURSUIT. THE PURSUIT BEGAN IN MINERVA AND INTO MULTIPLE JURISDICTIONS OF STARK COUNTY. ONE HOUR AND TWO MINUTES LATER, THE PURSUIT ENDED WHEN MR. SNYDER STOPPED HIS VEHICLE AND JUMPED OFF THE STATE ROUTE 44 OVER PASS AND ONTO STATE ROUTE 62 WHERE HE WAS APPREHENDED. MR. SNYDER SUFFERED FACIAL AND HEAD INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO CLEVELAND CLINIC MERCY HOSPITAL BY NIMISHILLEN EMS. MR. SNYDER HAS SINCE BEEN FLOWN TO CLEVELAND CLINIC AKRON GENERAL HOSPITAL.
