Wednesday Surprise: Creighton Retires as Stark Commissioner
November 7, 2024 10:25AM EST
CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – During a week where Stark County Republicans feasted at the ballot box, one leading GOPer has called it quits.
Commissioner Janet Creighton announced at the end of the regular weekly board meeting Wednesday that she was stepping down effective at midnight Wednesday night.
A successor will be named by the county Republican Party later this month.
Her reason?
Creighton says after marking 40 years in politics, she wanted to retire.
She’s been a recorder, auditor and even mayor of Canton.
She even worked two years in the George W Bush White House.
She remains chair of the Stark County Republican Party, where she oversaw a red wave of support on Election Day.
