Work Stress can literally Kill you! Here’s the Proof

If you work long hours, you may want to slow down a bit. According to new WHO research, long working hours kills thousands each year. Luckily, it takes years to feel the effects, up to decades. But it’s certainly a cue to take it easy.

The study showed working 55 hours or more per week is “a serious health hazard.” Men have the highest risk, at a clip of 72-percent, over women. The World Health Organization’s paper, in the journal Environment, showed that nearly 745-thousand people died from long working hours worldwide in 2016.

There’s some good news here, though. Americans aren’t nearly as at risk as those in Australia, China, and Japan. Those countries have started capping the max hours you can work now.

Thanks to COVID and the blurring of the work-home lines, we should probably take more personal time and burn those unused vacation days so we stay lower risk!
