(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – Canton City Council gave first reading Monday night to a resolution giving Johnson Controls Hall of Fame Village a 75% tax abatement for any improvements made at the McKinley Grand Hotel, with the village planning to purchase the Market Avenue S building.

Canton Mayor Tom Bernabei says it’s huge for Canton, since it’s another way of tying the downtown to the Hall on the NW side of the city.

He stresses that the tax abatement applies only to the $15- to $20-million in proposed improvements to the building.
