(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – The death Wednesday of the former longtime treasurer of the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club is being investigated as a suicide, according to the Stark County coroner’s office.

Coroner Doctor Anthony Bertin pronounced 72-year-old David Seffens dead at his Canton home at around 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

he had failed to show up for sentencing in Stark County Common Pleas Court Wednesday morning on aggravated theft charges.

The coroner’s office says the body is being examined now.

Seffens pleaded guilty to the charges last month, accused of embezzling $216,000 from the club.
