CANTON (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – After breaking ground nearly a year ago, Akron Canton Airport has hit a milestone in the construction of its $34 Million project. The final steel beam has been set for the new concourse in the Gate Modernization and Expansion Project, completing the first of three phases.

Up next will be the construction of the new gates, which will include a two level concourse consisting of 41, 600 square feet, similar to one of the existing second floor gates.

The final step will then be the demolition of the old complex, creating 7,500 square yards of aircraft parking.

Other additions such as jet bridges at every gate are included in the overall project which is expected to be completed by mid 2021.
