(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – Diebold Nixdorf is opening a facility in North Canton’s Hoover District that will create 215 jobs.

The city’s Director of Administration Patrick DeOrio says this is a big get for them.

“Diebold Nixdorf is a huge company that’s known globally, and it adds a sense of legitimacy to this location as a place where you want to go and locate your business.”

He says Diebold will be taking over a 200,000 square foot location on Orchard Avenue on the north end of the Hoover District.

The city convinced the company to come to town by offering to split the income tax for five years.

DeOrio says the 215 light manufacturing jobs will generate around $126,000 in new municipal income taxes.

He says Diebold is currently rehabbing the buildings and he expects a majority of the employees to be in place by the end of the year.
