MWCD Board Votes to Lower Annual Assessment in Stark, 17 Other Counties

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Good news for property owners in Stark and 17 other counties who pay a small assessment to the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District with their property taxes.

They will pay even less starting in tax year 2024.

The board of directors has voted to lower the assessment to two dollars annually.

It’s currently six dollars.

The funding goes to support operation and maintenance of 16 dams and reservoirs in the watershed.

Property owners were initially assessed $12 per year starting in 2009.
