Pair Being Sentenced Tuesday in Shooting at Police Incident

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Two local men accused of shooting at Canton police officers last June are being sentenced Tuesday morning on attempted murder and other charges.

23-year-old Braylen Smallwood of Canton and 22-year-old Trezjon Allen of Massillon entered guilty pleas to all the charges in their respective indictments on Friday.

Smallwood faced 13 charges and specifications, and Allen 15.

They include criminal gang and gun specifications.

Members of the Canton Police Department’s Coordinated Response Team were doing work behind a liquor store on 12th Street NW just west of Market Avenue when they were shot at.

One officer was grazed by a bullet and treated at the scene.

Smallwood was arrested near the shooting scene.

Allen was picked up later.
