Report: Indian River CO Still Recovering Following October Attack

COPLEY TWP., Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Seven months after being attacked by an inmate at the Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility in Massillon, a 60-year-old Copley Township man continues to recover at home.

The Beacon Journal says David Upshaw uses a walker, suffers from migraines, and needs his wife to remind him to take his meds.

Upshaw was hit in the head with a radio while on his corrections officer job last October.

His keys were used to let other inmates out.

19-year-old Demetrice Taylor was recently indicted on adult charges,

it was one of a number of violent incidents at the Massillon facility.
