School Board Approves Contract With New Superintendent
(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – The Canton City School District Board of Education has approved the contract with the district’s new superintendent, Dr. Jeff Graham.
It’s a three-year contract in which Graham will receive an annual base salary of $179,900.
The contract calls for the Board of Education to review Graham’s work performance before January 1st each year.
After the Board approved his hiring in April Graham told WHBC News that turning things around doesn’t happen overnight.
“If you’re looking at an increase in student achievement right away, that’s not how it works.”
He says running a successful school district is all about people, and since he was hired he’s been listening to teachers and staff members about their thoughts and concerns.
“We have a staff full of very talented, dedicated teachers and staff members and I think there’s a hunger to address all the challenges and I just want to be a part of it.”
The district received an F on the last State Report Card and has been told by the state that it is approaching “academic distress.”
