(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – Stark County Sheriff George Maier recently joined members of the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association in attending a picnic at the Ohio Governor’s residence in Bexley.

The sheriff’s office says the event was focused on developing relationships and sharing ideas that will strengthen Stark County and the entire state of Ohio.

“My wife and I were honored to join other Ohio Sheriff’s for an evening of fellowship with Governor DeWine,” Maier said.

“We are grateful that Governor DeWine hosted this event to celebrate Ohio sheriffs”.

Sheriff Maier says Governor DeWine is hopeful that the pending budget will assist local law enforcement and county sheriffs in their ongoing battle with the opiate crisis in Ohio.

He identified funding in current budget language that will be available to Stark County in its efforts to address the issue.
