LAKE TWP., Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Crews have begun the process of digging additional wells in a part of Lake Township and in the city of Green.

Those areas are northwest of the former Industrial Excess Landfill.

The U.S. EPA says the new wells will each take about a week to drill.

The EPA will then test groundwater for dioxane, which has been found closer to the landfill site along Cleveland Avenue NW, south of Uniontown.

Dioxane is likely a carcinogen.

The postcard mailed to residents indicates the drilling will be done between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily through September.
